Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 9, 2026 · Last Updated: March 11, 2026
FileMayor ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what
information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
🟢 Core Principle: FileMayor is a local-first application. Your files are never uploaded to external
servers. All file processing happens entirely on your device.
1. Information We Collect
Data We DO NOT Collect:
- File contents, documents, images, or personal files.
- Filesystem paths or directory structures beyond what is displayed locally.
- Keystrokes, screenshots, or screen recordings.
Data We May Collect:
- License Key Validation: When activating a Pro or Enterprise license, the key is
validated against our payment provider (Lemon Squeezy). No personal file data is transmitted.
- Anonymous Crash Reports: In the Desktop App, we may collect anonymous, non-identifiable
crash reports to improve stability. These contain no personal or file data.
- Website Analytics: Our website (filemayor.com) may use privacy-respecting analytics to
measure page views. No cookies are used for tracking.
2. How We Process Files
FileMayor reads the following file metadata locally on your device only:
- File names and extensions
- File sizes
- File modification and creation dates
- Directory structure
This metadata is used exclusively to provide the scanning, organizing, cleaning, and analysis features. It is
never transmitted off your device.
3. Third-Party Services
- Lemon Squeezy: Used for payment processing and license key management. Their privacy
policy applies to payment data: lemonsqueezy.com/privacy
- Google Gemini API (Pro Feature): The SOP parsing feature may send user-uploaded SOP
text to the Google Gemini API for AI-powered parsing. No filesystem data is sent. Users explicitly
trigger this feature.
4. Data Storage
All application data (settings, rollback journals, organization history) is stored locally on your device in
your operating system's standard application data directory. We do not operate cloud databases for user
data.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: View all data stored locally by the application.
- Deletion: Uninstalling FileMayor removes all local application data.
- Portability: Your files remain on your device at all times; nothing is locked in.
- Opt-Out: You can disable anonymous crash reports in Settings.
6. Compliance
FileMayor's local-first architecture is designed to be inherently compliant with:
- GDPR (EU General Data Protection Regulation)
- POPIA (South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act)
- CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act)
7. Children's Privacy
FileMayor is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from
children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects the most
recent revision.
